California doesn't give anything away except advice and bad government.

Presently we are giving citizens and businesses away to neighboring states. Apparently California has way too much money in the state coffers. Therefore, the state has decided to chase a significant number of pesky, revenue and job producing businesses out of California. Since the process of chasing these stupid profit making and career paying businesses was not moving fast enough, the people of California decided to elect Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown as governor again. He has proven in the past that he is totally capable of making business and jobs disappear. Yes, the liberal, socialist voters of California prove once again that California does GIVE.

You guys... I wish you were all funny... sad thing is... your not. It is the sad truth. CA is going down the crapper. On topic, the hatcheries do give away salmon. Granted, it is not very good. By the time the fish make it up to the hatcheries they are not in great shape. Would certainly beat starving though. I know some people who used to volunteer to go pick it up and were bringing it back to a couple of food banks or something in OR. Probably was used about like the potatoes we used to give to one of the food banks, I found out most of them were getting thrown away. I asked one of guys about what was going on, he replied no one wanted (good, fresh no less) potatoes as it was too much work to cook them. I guess the state hands out so much welfare money anymore, people can afford to be lazy.

the fish (kokanee) are seined from the lake (impoundment) and then the eggs removed for the hatcheries, and the salmon are free if you have a CO fishing license, a nice program by the DOW to not let the fish go to waste, and feed those who want some salmon for the freezer ... most fish are # 20 plus and very tasty :smiley-funny-post-sign:

Back on the salmon topic they don't give it out to individuals at the American River Hatchery near me. Some might go to a food bank but those fish are trash by the time they spawn them. I wouldn't even call it salmon anymore Pogo.

Yes, its not good. I'm sure it would beat starving, but I don't blame anyone for not eating it. The potato thing sure irritated me though. Wasn't like they were culls, same stuff going to market.Kokanee would be different and much better I'd think as they don't run upriver (or at least as far) to spawn like salmon out of the ocean.
