Well it's a long story .......I passed up what i thought was a wide fork Saturday morning I was 200 yards away when I got up too it i looked threw my scope and realized it was a big 3x2.All I could see was his head so I moved he ran.....I was sick all day so today I crawled a hundred yards on my knees and sneaked up to a spot I saw a few does then I jumped this young buck in waist high grass killed him like 30 yards away. here he is..Attached File  Shoot_it.jpg   146.48K   106 downloads

Hey John, great job especially after all the work you put into getting that gun shooting so well. There are an awful lot of guys out there that would love to have gotten that deer. I resized your picture for you as so of the guys have dial-up and that other picture was BIG! Congrats on the buck!

Thanks for the replies. I didn't want too go home empty handed this time :D I have passed little guys up last season and came home with squat. He should be tender I am have him cut up.. steaks, back straps and the rest hamburger mixed with beef fat.......won't be much meat...... I practiced for too weeks shot 3 box's of shells at 100 yards and beyond and I end up killing my buck at 30 yards........... go figure at least i was smart enough too turn down my scope too 3 power.... :D I saved the lungs heart and liver for a old Mexican man that I know he was very happy when I gave him it he loves eating that stuff.... yuck......... well the lungs were shredded anyway.

Congrats!! I also had a B-tag and all I got was sore blistered feet! haha I went to Telephone ridge east of Black Butte Reservoir and walked all over the place. I did see over twenty deer ... all does and fawns with the exception of one tiny buck whose horns where like two inches out of his head. I think the problem was the over fourty hunting rigs that I saw! WOW tons of pressure. I did see a couple nice bucks and a bunch of pigs all in the farmers fields on the way up the mountain. Go figure...maybe next year.

If your going to rattle use small antlers you don't want to scare them off . I think rattling might work any way got to try it. I need to do something Ill try anything.

ive been out 6 times. Last weekend in my group there was 4 us. 2 people got bucks on saturday. Then sunday morning i shot one, it fell, bedded. My friend released his dog wayy! too soon and my buck jumped up and ran down the hill, no blood, no guts, nothing. I know he was hit because he struggled to get up but once he was up it was all downhill for miles. Never saw him again.Later that afternoon i had a real nice 3 pt 18 inch wide buck in my scope. I was waiting for him to move out of the way of a cedar stump because all i had was a shot at his neck. Unfortunately i got to watch him drop in my scope because the guy above me saw the same buck and had a better shot.Next weekend we are going on a big hunt on private land that has pulled out some monster bucks in the past years. I cant wait. Private land is the way to go on B. So far on all 4 of my public land hunts i have seen about 40 does and 0 bucks.

That's why they call it "DEER HUNTING" and not "deer shooting."
