Mr. Wally, Six months oldPosted ImageWe killed five ducks and a lost snow goose that i called in range He did excellent for being six months. he would not go fetch up the ducks until i did but it was his first trip, I'm not worried. The snow goose sailed to shore i got about forty yards from it, had wally sit, mark, and "dead bird" He did greatPretty descent hunt for a blue bird day on a pressured pond!Posted Image

Wally doesn't look real happy in that picture. :signs1180lq: But I'm sure he'll catch on.

haha, trust me i know. He was looking at me like "what the hell are you thinking, this is way colder than my wood stove at home. But he had a ball. he shivered for a while but for six months old and already fifty three pounds. something tells me he is not going to have to worry about being cold! :signs1180lq:

Get a good vest for him and it will cut down on the shivering and possibly hypothermia as the season gets colder. Keep having fun with him; nothing beats watching a dog do his/her job in the field.

Attached File  Matt___Sisser_Opening_Wknd_Oct_23__2010.jpg   28.04K   22 downloadssounds like you guys had a blast. keep up the good work.i inherited a 6 year old female black lab this year and took her out opening weekend. she hunted till she was about 2 then her previous owner got sick, so she hadnt been hunting in about 4 years. She did great and retrieved 12 of 14 ducks. the two that got away were really far out and she stopped 20 ft short of them to come back. she swam so far i couldnt turn her back around and when i got another duck down out near it i left the dog with my wife and retrieved the two myself. i couldnt have been happier with her, and i know she was having a blast. after two days of hunting one of her hips was sore but after 24 hours back at home the soreness must have been gone and she was ok again. the only thing we had trouble with was getting her to stay laying down. she wanted to sit instead.
