What is the easiest way to get rid of the carry handle and get the scope mounted down on some kind of flat top so i can get some acuracy. Is there a way to make sure my barrel is ok. I bought this rifle used many years ago and I know its seen a lot of rounds. ThanksBob

about 80 to 90 dollars for a flattop upper and as for the condition of the barrel look for a gunsmith to check it out.

+1 what Homemade said. Your better off buying a new Stripped Flattop upper than screwing w/ your A2. Del-Ton sells T-marked Stripped uppers for $83 or $85 for ones w/ M4 Feed ramps.

What they said. The key accuracy component is a quality barrel. If you decide to replace your barrel, you can even convert to a .204 Ruger round. That might be a whole bunch of fun.
