I just got back from d-6 cherry lake area.Saw a Doe with 2 fawnsSaw mountain lion tracks.Heard a mountain lion (probably got scared due to a pack of bear dogs in the area)Saw Bear Scat (Almost stepped in it)I got flipped off by a Grey Squirrel - I assume they weren't in season so I couldn?t shoot it.I saw CowsI never did see anything with antlersI did hear shots in the area so I assume some one saw something ... Maybe Bigfoot or the squirrel was in season.I know by the tracks thier are bucks in the area but I didn't have the time to go to deep and getting away from the crowed was a pain. Reminds me of fishing on the sac durring the salmon run.on the way back home I saw 8 deer with 2 possibly beeing legal bucks next to a baseball diamond in Sonora (the field was in use mabey the deer are fans of the local team) I also saw alot of deer on peoples lawns, I wounder if the deer have BLM/NF maps?I think I'm gunna try for a X or B zone next year or plan a weak long stay at Emigrant Wilderness area. I've never used horses for hunting before nows a good time to learn.

Ok, just walked back in the door from hunting this weekend. Took your guy's advice and went as far up as I could. Got in real late friday night, set up camp and crashed (er, passed) out. Got up about 8am saturday (friday night was pretty rough), started hunting. Saw 20 deer saturday, nothing with horns. Got up at 5am this morning and was out hunting before sunup. Went up even higher today (even hiked about a mile back into emigrant wilderness), but only saw 4 up high, and another 8 once we dropped back down lower towards camp. Again, nothing with horns. 32 altogether, at least 12 of those were fawns. Talked with some DFG guys that were tracking radio collared deer (saw a doe with a collar, kinda cool!) and they said the deer are there, but the numbers are low because they've had a low fawn count the past couple years. He blamed it on the hard winters we've had, and when I asked if the mountain lions had something to do with it, he kind of half-smiled like he wanted to say yes, but he couldn't since they are protected. All in all, a very fun (and eventful!) trip. The extreme amount of dust sucked, but I got to see some new territory, took some good pictures, and the weather wasn't too bad. 19 degrees at 5:30am makes climbing out of the tent a little rough though. Didn't hear very many shots at all, but we did see alot of stupid people on ATV's just FLYING down the forestry roads. Almost had to pick one guy out of the grill of my pickup! Wish the ATVers would realize this isn't Pismo and they are not the only ones out there...
