Went to the range yesterday w/ my buddy who picked up his new stainless Taurus Tracker in 44 mag. Its a short barrel, 4 or 5 inches, ported. The gun has a nice feel to it. Its not very heavy at all. He intends to carry it while fishing in Alaska this year so the weight issue was taken into consideration. We excitedly put some rounds down range at paper w/ 240 and 300 grn ammo. There was no noticeable difference in recoil between either and in general, recoil was not terrible at all. I remember my dad's Smith model 629 w/ 6 inch barrel having more recoil... but that was years ago and i was still a young wussy. I expected worse with that caliber, light weight, and a short barrel. The only thing that stuck out in my mind was the DA trigger pull. I think its rated at 8 lbs but it was not very smooth. Maybe it just takes some getting used to. The SA was fine though.I definitely enjoyed my Sunday funday range time!
