Very good Jeff. B) That's a nice collection of birds. I'd like to go after them with an airgun. Where I used to hunt them long ago they weren't real smart and a stick worked on them. Were these skittish or could you get within 25 to 30 yards pretty easily?

Well the first day we didn't take the dogs and they would bust up and fly down the mountain so you had to be quick. But on Sunday we took the dogs and when they would flush them up they would fly up in the first tree and you could shoot them with a air rifle. But I had a hard enough time with my shotgun.

We ate them one night. My buddy's wife cooked them for us. She put some seasoning than poured a whole bunch of wild plum sauce over the top of the birds last but not least she layed bacon over the breast of the bird and put it in the oven tasted great.

Or you could just do it like a man and catch the little boogers. I saw tons of Grouse in Canada and they are without a doubt the dumbest bird on the planet. You could literally kill a limit an hour just by catching them. I wish the season was in when we were there. That looks like some really nice country your hunting in by the way..Attached File  g1.jpg   29.82K   18 downloads

Well I would like to see you catch these birds we hiked and searched and hiked some more. This is not flat ground by no means just the hike alone was enough for me. Plus that bird is only weeks old.

I don't know how old it was or even what kind it is. Those were literally the first Grouse I have ever seen that weren't on TV.. Believe me I know absolutely nothing about Grouse, I was just trying to bust your B@lls a little.

Those things are great to eat. nice going.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

It depends how hard they're hunted but blue are known for being the dumbest of the grouse. Indians used to hunt them with a stick. I too hunted them years a go in a place where they weren't pursued and a rock or stick worked fine. It was like hunting some sort of a Galapagos Island bird species. In fact I hesitate to call what we did hunting. But with the pressures of todays hunting areas I'm sure the dumb ones are quickly becoming extinct.

They are, for the most part, really dumb. And the bird you have on your hand is an adult bird. db
