Went up to Bourland Meadows Saturday. An amazing amount of snow still there under the trees. Lots of skeeters do to the amount of standing water from the snow melt. Exposed areas are dry most everything else is damp. Temp was 85 deg. I expect some of the snow to still be there come Aug. Spotted one doe with two fawns, they appear to be working there way up the mountain. Going to be a lot different this year because of all the snow as the deer are very late in moving to higher ground. Not much grass growing yet for grazing. I will probably go up again in about two weeks to check it out again. Down here at the lower altitudes the deer are on the move lots of blacktails around Don Pedro and McClure moving towards water in the evening, have seen about a dozen in the last week.

We were at McClure this weekend--- saw about a dozen deer. Early to late afternoon moving to water. Of course it was also HOT!

We were up somewhere in D-6 scouting yesterday and located 3 bucks 2 nice 1 smaller but shootable and 15-18 does we covered 52 miles on the quads and will return opening day it looks very promising. The first buck had some body mass but small up top 2x3 guessing he was weighing somewhere in the 150-160 range. 3 does were pushing 120-130 very healthy the rest of them were on the bigger side for Ca weight wise but not big up top 2x2 and a forkie. They would make good meat but not wall hangers.

Possible at least part we were up high. Body mass was way bigger than anything I have seen anywhere else. It was my first time there but the guys that took me with them thought they were.

What elevation are those mountains im suprised that there's still a significant snowpack so im expecting the elevation to be higher. The San Francisco peaks here in AZ still have up to four feet of snow along the rim so i'm sure its possible. nice_need_pics.gif

Where were you at at bourland? I've hunted there at least 8 weekends a year for the past 10 years or so.
