Took the wife and little one out tonight for some dove shooting. Since we had our little one the wifes actual shooting time has gone down quite bit and she hasn't had too much practice in the last couple of years. But fortunately Emma is getting to the age where Mom can enjoy some shooting once again without having to make sure she stays out of harms way.Well a pocket full of shells later the wife (Nancy) finally broke the ice and downed her first bird in the last 3 years. Of course Emma is getting to be a pro at retrieving, and of course we had to throw the dead bird back up in the air so she could shoot it.I think this is the first time that I haven't taken a gun to the field in a long, long time and I couldn't have cared less, although we might have been cleaning more than one dove if I had..Attached File  1.jpg   29.93K   7 downloadsAttached File  2.jpg   29.46K   8 downloadsAttached File  3.jpg   19.66K   7 downloadsAttached File  4.jpg   16.68K   7 downloads

Great Pic's ,Nice outing! I believe the key to many gun issues lies with the womens vote. As boys we are raised as cowboys and shooting with our fingers as soon as we can stand and say pow. While girls on the other hand are not brought into the world of guns, so they are more concerned with them and don't understand their use or value.SO my compliments to the guy's that takes the women in his life out shooting in any way shape or form ,its all good.Buy the way I have two daughters and three grand daughters that shoot occasionally at the range and none of them are anti-gun

Or have wifes that let us go  Great going Tim . Is that a red rider your little girl has? I rememer taking my son deer hunting at that age ,spent the whole time shooting ants with the bb guns. Kids the best investment you can make.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

No it's just a Pop Gun. Mom said no BB gun until Xmas, or closer to age 4.

That's pretty good. My mother wouldn't let me have one until I was older. So I showed her by shooting out my bedroom window while trying to hit a robin on the TV antenna next door.

Nice! What sort of punishment did you get for that one? I'm sure it was a good one!My mother was convinced that I would shoot someone's eye out if I had a BB Gun. I'm not just saying that because of that movie that came out with the kid who wanted a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. Everytime I asked for one I got the same answer. "BB Guns are dangerous, you could lose and eye" and "Firecrackers will blow your fingers off" etc. Well I convinced my dad to let me buy a Daisy if I earned the money myself and got my BB Gun. Later I bought firecrackers while on a trip with a buddy. She meant well I guess. Now she likes to shoot a BB Gun at empty water bottles and pop cans and as for the firecrackers....its now a felony to have them in California so I guess I'm out of luck!Jason

Wow, I'm gonna have to show my wife this. She's saying no hunting for my daughter until she's 12 or so... I was thinking start shooting at 5, hunting by 8. That's the ages when I started, but I know the sooner you start 'em off, the better! Actually, this gives me an idea for another thread... :D

Hey, I even had the .17hmr in the little ones shoulder last week and she was plinking away with it. She didn't shoot anything but sand, but she didn't care one bit. All she was worried about was getting to shoot the "Girls Gun" and that's good enough for me.
