Went shooting opening day and on Monday with my brother and brother in law. Shooting was slow in the morning opening day at our location but then got crazy in the evening with birds flying in from all directions. They guys we were shooting with were amazed especially with most guys only getting a couple birds in the morning. On monday we went out to a different location on the farm and got into them pretty good. My three year old "little hunter" had his camo, plastic rifle, and binoculars. He would run over and pick up birds and had a great time. I limited both days with great grandma's Remington Model 17 20 gage shotgun in full choke. I like using the full choke because it gives me greater range, allows me to get away with using the cheap walmart shotgun shells, and gives the birds a sporting chance. I talked with a guy in his 90s a couple years back who used to go hunting as a young boy with my grandmother and remembered her using the old Remington model 17. It still shoots like a champ after all these years. I purchased a used model 17 last year and have used it for spare parts to keep the old girl shooting. Best shotgun I have ever used. I wish the old model 17 in full choke was still in production.Cheers!JasonPosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
