Weekend shootin'. My brother and I both forgot bags so we made do. I think I can do better with them so I can really see what's going on. Then it's to practicing field positions.
Best of the day.
The cheap "crappy" Tula shoots the best so far. Now I need to get a HP that shoots good. The GDSP and Rem were about an inch bigger. Rough group size tally for the day. 5 shot slow fire groups. I think 3 is inadequate to really get a reading. TULA FMJ 1.25" 1.5" 2" 1.2" 1.065" 1.3" REM 45/55 HP 2.9" 2.6" 2" 2.6"SPEER GDSP 2" 2.2" 2.4" 2.3" I shot as well or better than everyone else, but my buddy who's an experienced shooter (dad was gunsmith, and he shot competition for years, etc.) is going thru some health problems, so he just shot 1 group, wasn't very "on" today, besides being rusty and not familiar with the rifle, etc. His was 3 at .850" and 2 called fliers to bring it to 2.2"Conclusion : shooting 1"@100 is not easy.Next: 100 off bags = better setup, more ammo testing, then back to 200. Thanks for the input, tips on setting up rock solid on bags would be appreciated. I tried the bipod and the cheap cleaning vise and both were wobbly as all get out. Ended up resting on a block of wood with a leather insulated glove between it and the stock.
