I leave September 23rd for a week of antelope and prairie dog hunting in southern Wyoming. I've worked up the load for my 6.5 x 284 and have all the scope settings out to 500 meters (I rang the 500 meter, 8" gong, 8 times in a row off the bipod this morning). This antelope load is a 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip starting at 3,400 fps and I'm stupid confident with it past 500 yards. I'm also bringing 100 rounds of a 142 grain Sierra Matchking Load with scope settings out to 1,200 yards for prairie dogs because the heavier SMK's shoot better than the 100 grain load after 800 yards. I've got another 300 rounds loaded up and sighted in of 223 loads for my AR rifle and 200 rounds of 22.250 for my old Savage 110. Since there's three of us going and the other two guys have never hunted antelope or prairie dogs before, I'll be doing the spotting and guiding for them so I'm not bringing a bunch of ammunition.I've been shooting 100 rounds a week for the last three months, so what do I do for the next 21 days ?????????????????Here's the five shot group I shot this morning:Posted Image

Frank,Good luck on your hunt! At what distance did you shoot that spectacular group?
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

Witch square was ya trying to hit ?. I can see your going to give the other guys a chance by using a unsited in rifle and only a few shells. wheres the picture of the gun? Good luck and have fun.
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

The group would be worse if it was on the right side. All left handed shooters are better!

Here we go again, we have way too many lefties in this forum, IMHO. We should take one of the inactive topics and start a Lefties Rule topic, which is only accessed by the left side with left handed computers operated by only their left hand.    Nice group by the way. I'm in the ordering stage of a barrel in 6.5- 284 for my Stolle.

Yep, we'll be in Carbon County (by Medicine Bow), a friend of mine has 300,000 acres there. But if we can't find enough prairie dogs to shoot we can hunt his brother's and aunt's ranches that adjoin his for another 900,000 acres.

Nice! I was looking at the left over tags on their site the other day... the doe tags were pretty cheap if a guy was after meat.

Wow, now that's a chunk of real estate! :D 1406 square miles or a square 37.5 by 37.5 miles. You'd need a plane to just check on the fencing. :D You better find something to shoot on that much property. If we don't here back from you we'll assume you got lost.
