Hopefully this time tomorrow we will be deciding how to cook our doves. Anyone have a favorite way?

Lots of batter and deep fry them. That way it seems like it was worth shooting. Otherwise they are too small to find on the plate. Dice the vegetables real small. That will also make them look bigger. ;) :D db

Debone the breast, marinate in Italian Salad dressing and brandy for 6+hrs. wrap dove around a piece of jalopena pepper and wrap a bit of bacon around dove and keep it together with toothpick. Put on barby for not to long med rare. Makes me hungry just thinking about them.

Last year I shot ten birds with about a box of shells. Today I could not hit my butt with either hand. I don't know why sometimes dove seem easy to hit and sometimes I can't hit one to save my life. The ones we shot today went home with the guys working in the fields. The next group we will have to try the dressing.

It was crazy around my place this morning no time too hunt I did see a nice flock 50 or so. I could hear shooting coming from the refuge china Island I think .

I've never had doves on my butt to hit! Maybe that's where they've been hiding all this time. ;) Dale, sounds like you and your son had a good day. I sure miss the old days of true dove hunting. Not like today when you're lucky to see ten if any. :D

I like to make bobs out of em. Shiskabobs that is. I'll first remove the breast from the bones and let sit overnight in a marinade of orange juice, garlic powder, and a small amount of soy sauce. Then I take sliced onions, sliced bell peppers, cherry tomatos, and pinapple chunks and put them on skewers with the dove meat every other item on the skewer. Then I make up my own terriyaki marinade with honey, soy sauce, liquid smoke, pineapple juice, brown sugar, and garlick powder. Then I brush the terriyakki sauce all over the bobs and put on the grill. I repeat the brush down a couple of time while on the grill. Even people that don't doves will usually like how it tastes. I generally will mix in some chunks of chicken also to keep the wife and kids happy. Recipe works good for chicken, rabbit, doves, quail, and just about anything else.Jason

Wow Jason! What time is dinner?

 Who said anything about dinner. I'd eat em for breakfast! My personal favorite is left overs. I take all the left overs off the skewers and put them into on plastic bag all mixed together. Then I heat them up the next day. The flavor is even better than when they came off the BBQ. Seriously, It's a little work to put the bobs together but the results are well worth it especially when the friends and relatives that don't like dove go back for seconds. Now I've got a craving that will probably have to be satisfied this weekend. At least it's already Wednesday!Jason

If you buy the Hot Wing ready Oven Bags and throw them in one of those, they make for some tasty little appetizers.

Tried out the Dove Kabobs this weekend when some friends came over. I mixed chicken and dove on the bobs. They had never had dove before and really liked it. Even the wife liked it which was nice. Usually she will just go for the chicken. Made enough so I had leftovers for Sunday and today. Good stuff.Jason
