Hey there guys, the name's Armen, living in the San Fernando Valley, about 5 mins. away from Oak Tree Gun Club. I'm really new to this whole "varminting" system, so try not to get mad at my stupid questions. First "critter" I blew apart was a ground squirrel at favorite hog hunting area of my father's and mine. It was with a SAKO TRG-95 IN 7MM MAG, at about 150 or so yards, and let me tell you, I'm hooked  well anyways, I bought MY first rifle on the 20 of August, fron Turner's. It's a CZ 452 "LUX". long story short, I got a few question, let me know if you guys could help me out...1. Is the CZ 452 a descent rifle??? I've head a few good and bad things about it..2. My rifle is in .17 HMR, and I bought about 300 rounds of the federal with the TNT bullet (I'm a federal guy!!) does anyone know if that round is accurate?? or if there are more accurate makes out there??3. Is there anywhere really good for getting rid a few pesky critters, or feeding the vultures/condors??? Ive ask a few farmers in the Ventura County area, and they say that they allready have a few guys lined up to help. Anything close would be fine... and I dont want to know your secret spot (not that your itching to tell me  ) I just need a general area to work with... Thanks.Thats it, thanks a lot for letting me waste your time guys, the help is really appreciated.

Squirl-A-Nater Welcome to the board. The CZ rifle I'm sure will do all you want it to. Don't get to hungup on the brand of ammo. It's all made at the same CCI factory and labeled differently. The bullets are called different names but the vmax 17 gr. seems to be the most accurate in most guns. The other bullets work well in some guns and I've experienced a different POI with different bullets. Shoot the 300 Feds. then it'll be good and broken in, then go buy some of the different bullets and brands. It appears to be a lot# rather than brand label. There are alot of guys experimenting with sorting by OAL's and rim thickness but it's alot of time for minimal rewards unless you're trying to shrink groups on paper, which the BR guys tend to do excessively. JMHO Shoot it and enjoy it is a wonderful little round. Dale

Hey Armen, welcome aboard and hope you like it here...First, there's no such thing as a stupid question, & we all learn from each other... So no one is going to get mad at anyone or feel they are wasting someones time... Hey that's why we're all here to begin with... To help learn & enjoy our sport all the more... 2nd, while I am not familiar with the CZ 452, I do know that CZ's make very good rifles and am confident you did just fine purchasing that one. One of my friends has a CZ in 204 (& possibly your next caliber / lol) and is one sweet rifle indeed. 3rd, being a coyote hunter, I'm afraid I'm not much help on where to go for squirrels. Carrizo does have a few, but doubt if that is the best area for them. Hopefully someone else will come along and have a better answer for you. It does have a fair number of rabbits however.Hope this helps & Happy Hunting :)Frank

SQUIRL-A-NATOR,Welcome to CPC, Armen. Congrats on the CZ 452, I'm sure it will do the job for you. However, the 17 Hummer may not deliver that satisfying whack on the shoulder like the 7 mag does. A17Shooter

Welcome to the forum. I am sure that you will have many hours of fun from your 17 HMR but be careful. It may lead to a lifetime obsession resulting in a gun cabinet full of toys and a lighter wallet! The earlier post on trying different ammuntion brands in the 17 HMR was dead on. Even though they are all made in the same place some guns prefer one brand or grain of bullet. The key is finding the right one for your gun. My dad's rifle likes the balistic tips. My brother's rifle and my own prefer the CCI TNT hollow points. Both in 17 grains. You would think that it wouldn't matter but for some reason each gun has a favorite. Be sure to post some pictures!Jason

They say that one of the side effects to Viagra is loss of eyesight, I've heard a couple of my buddies say they were going to stop taking it when they have to wear glasses. ;)

Hey guys, just took my rifle to the range, but im without a scope cuz im waiting for my rings to arrive!!!! So I headed out to Angeles Shooting Range, and started getting my sights all nice and strait at 50yds. then I moved out to 75yds. and started shooting my heart out!! this thing is really damn accurate at 75 yds. with just the iron sights, so I can only wonder what damage I can do with my scope!!! anyways the target here has just about the aveage grouping I was getting at 75yds, some better some worse. and it is true about the barrel on these CZ's, the dirtier they get, the better they group!!!! and F.Y.I. the hornady tips did a little better in the cross winds, but I got mad a t a rock that was looking at me wierd!!! and i hit with the hornady tip, and it just disintegrated, but the federal with the tnt just cracked it in half the first shot!!! and my rifle likes only the federal 17 gr. tnt, and the 17gr. hornady v-max, everything else just didnt satisfy the appetite!!!
