Went out this last night real quick and called in a grey fox. It showed up about 7-8 feet in front of me, creeping thru the thick brush. It took a few steps out into the open, turned and looked right into my eyeballs, and fled. That was cool. They're really pretty. This AM I headed out and got my first coyote of the season on my second stand. It was a young female, probably this year's batch. She came in real slow after about 12 minutes, like she was trying to pretend that she wasn't interested in my woodpecker distress call. She kept stopping along the way to sniff other coyote's scat etc. I nailed her at 46 yards with my NEF 223 and a 40gr NBT. Stop, drop, and twitch. That was it. Lights out. And so the season begins... Oh, and I got the whole thing on video. :)Hold on, I'm having imaging difficulties...

cool,
You can hop but you can't hide. Yahi Bowmen. Its not how far you can shoot but how close to the game you get when you shoot. Sights we don't need any sights. Why waist time reloading when I can be making arrows.

Allrighty then, here's some pics.Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImageHere's a play-by-play phot shoot. In the first pic, the coyote is approaching on the trail from about 90 yards. He stops numerous times along the way. Then he finally makes a sharp right turn in front of that tree and sniffs near the small stream. I wanted him to come a little closer, but I took him at 46 yards before he could wander up that stream out of sight. Very nice show and tell story.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

Steve, trust me, filming a solo hunt is a pain in the rear. There's more equipment to lug around, it's time consuming and frustrating when the auto shutoff turns the camera off to save batteries etc, and often you don't get the shot anyways. I had a fox right in front of me last night but I couldn't get the camera on him. It's much easier in wide open areas!

Love the play by play....very good job. Also, like the look in the yote's eye on the closeup. Those eyes can burn a hole right through a man's soul! Congrats on the coyote.
