Cottontail closed last weekend so you have to wait until July 1 to go hunting for them again. As for jack rabbits most don't want to eat them so why hunt them?

I have often wondered if many hunters ate jack rabbits. I find it interesting that California lists them as a small game animal but assigns a year round season for them. I don't see many around where I live, but it might give me somthing to do while waiting for the July opener for cottontails.

Coming on to a hunting forum and asking for a place to hunt is like going up to a starving Ethiopian and asking him for a steak. This is a place to share you hunts post pictures talk hunting. It really make me sick how so many just want to find places to hunt by asking on here. I had one guy Pm-ed me he had no posts either looking for a place to hunt hogs it's like wtf it took me 10 years for me to shoot my first wild hog and to get access to a ranch. You got to go out and knock on doors and ask for permission.

Yea that! If you can't knock your knuckles blue and face a land owner eye to eye then you don't respect the land. With time your efforts will pay off but you gotta be persistent. Might take a good deal of time but time well spent.bisley11

Hang out at local gun shops, you'll find an old guy or two that has honey holes. That is how I got started.

Sir:It kind of feeds itself. If you are real, and want to help farmers and ranchers...go to the places where they do thier daily business. Sit there for a while...be calm...make friends....be REAL.It will come together if it is good for both parties. Hunting = ??? come on now...fill in the blank spaces

Funny, I used to do a lot of fishing at the gorge but never once, have I seen a cotton tail or jack rabbit. That's a better place for doves and quails. Not to mention it has turkeys too. Oops I guess I just gave away my "secret" spot. hahahaha
