This pains me today to talk about, but I've lost 4 animals to taxidermist. Finding a taxidermist is very important, yet most of us hunters do this after we kill a buck of a life time and are rushing to find someone to mount it. Please take my advices and do your research on your taxidermist!!! Be very wary of taxidermist that work out of their Garage! Ask them how long will it take(Good taxidermist will take 6 to 12 months) Check to see if they have a website. Ask for a list of refernces. I just foud a taxidermist up in Napa, CA. They operate in Idaho and in Cali. They seem to do a great job and they are not too pricy.www.tarapbrostaxidermy.com

We have our very own taxidermist and she is great. We see her work on here all the time and it is some of the best around. Check her out. Our very own coyotehuntress! And yes, she does have a web site.

While I haven't used her services I hear that CoyoteHuntress is a great taxidermist and I doubt you'd lose any animals to her. She's one of the advertisers here on CPC. http://www.californi...hp?showuser=768

I understand there are certain prepartory tasks to complete PRIOR to bringing an animal to the taxidermist, to ensure the best results.Perhaps CH could give us some pointers on how to properly prepare an animal for the taxidermist....

There's excellent taxidermist in Granite Bay. Don't remember the name but they're surely the only one in that town.

Thanks guys :roflmao3[1]: To properly care for your bird to take to the taxidermist Do NOT gut it.. leave it whole Its pretty easy.. Wipe off any blood you can from the feathers being careful not to break off any if possible. Stuff some paper towels in any holes so no blood will leak out, place a piece in the mouth as well. Tuck the head under a wing and slid the bird head first into a panty hose.. this keeps all your feathers laying flat so as not to get broke off.. A paper towel works fine if you dont have any panty hose around (No do not steal your wifes.. she will get kinda mad..) Careful of the tail place the bird in a bag and squeeze al the air out and seal...do not bend the tail feathers.. Freeze if you arent planning on taking to your taxidermist right away. Fairly simple really :) But a little planning ahead can mean the difference between a nice mount and bird used for dinner instead. Panty hose are available at walmart as are paper towels :)

And if you're a friend of Tiger Wood, he has lots of extra panty hose around. :)

We have a Great lady taxidermist, (CoyoteHuntress), here on the board. Maybe you should check out some of her work. Might change some of your narrow minded views.

Not cool, Mitch. I pray for the day when I have a project worthy of sending to CoyoteHuntress! Her work is amazing and I'll bet she can out-hunt at least half the men on this board.Hey, CoyoteHuntress... let me know when you've got your pilot's license.
