We've been doin great down here in the grasslands area and a little farther South as well. Last Wed my brother and I managed 13 ducks on an evening shoot at San Luis 2 mallards, a gad, 3 sprig, 2 ringers,1 spoon and 4 greenwings. We should have had limits but ran out of shells. Saturday at Mendota we had 4 guys in my group killed 25 ducks in the mornin 2 mallards, 2 widgeon, 1 cinnamon and the rest greenwings. Sometime early in the mornin a guy ended up rolling his truck in to the slough on the way out to the parking lots. Luckily for him the slough is empty right now, and no body was seriously injured. Then on Sunday at Mendota we managed 20 ducks for 4 guys. My brother got very lucky on a gorgeous fully mature little drake bluewing. He managed to put 5 #2 pellet holes in the little ducks head and absolutely shredded his left leg. That part was kind of a disappoinment. At the beginning of each duck season we all set goals for ourselves and this year mine was to get a bluewing and a drake hooded merganser. My cousin has killed a few hoodies and my brother has the bluewing now. Looks like I set the wrong goals. Oh well there is still time.I did manage to pull a VERY low number for Sacramento on the 24th though so I am lookin forward to that shoot. Headed to Mendota in the mornin good luck to everyone!

Wow! I can't believe that no one has posted about today. What a ride!!! My partner and I shot 4 Bull Sprig and 10 Bull GW Teal in 2 hours and got in before the rain got too bad. 30-37 mph SE winds, and lots of fun. The widgeon were all over us but one of the guys at our club had let us know that they are starting to have a green arse so we passed. Big ol fat Sprig and Teal work for the table more better.

Four of my buds went out on the 20th to Yolo and pulled 28 ducks in that weather. All got their Scaup limit and the rest were bootlips!!! Haha, cracks me up! Nothing like divers and spoons. But, a full strap is a full strap and I missed it.Apparently the dogs were having difficulties seeing the dead birds laying in the water because of the swells, and my friend said he couldn't walk through the water at times because the wind was so strong.

Boy the No. Grasslands was slow yesterday. Very little action, a few of our blinds produced early for teal but that was it. Last weekend coming up then it's on to Squirrel Rut and fishing.
