I can't wait to see how she shoots. You may have a new Jeep gun. Those squirrels won't know what hit them. Especially the ones that wait for you to jack in another round to run and hide.

They make a brass deflector for them that knocks the brass right down. Or you can install a brass catcher bag.

I can tell you a story about hot brass. My shooting buddy billy and I were out in a new field with young squirrels and I had my VQ 17 hmr. It was my turn to shoot a clip and I tear into this big family, Momma first then pow pow pow I'm in a zone eliminating the whole gang when I hear a blood curteling (sp) scream. Ol Billy is jumpin around trying to get this hot shell out of the inside of his eyeglasses. It burnt the heck out of his cheek and to this day when I pull an autoloader out Billy takes cover, wait till I pull this mini 14 out of the case he's going to be runnin for high ground.

It sounds like the new Mini likes the heavier bullets. What does that do to our selection of varmint/hunting bullets? Most of the heavy 223 bullets out there are paper-punching target types of bullets. You non-reloaders might have problems finding hunting ammo for it. Just a thought.

All it means is the barrel is a 1in9 twist that's all. The Savage shoots a 40gr. pretty darn good out of a 1in9 twist barrel. All it means is it will stabilize a heavier bullet not that it can't shoot a lighter one. I don't think much of the write up myself. He used what he was given that's about it. He should have thrown out the results he got before he noticed the scope was falling off. B)

Hey Dale,You should have that new Mini-14 any day now. Go shoot it and tell us how it does. Try and use some good ammo or let me know and I'll give you some to try. I have my favorite reloads and if one of them shoots well then I'm buying a NEW Ranch Rifle.

I'm still waiting for the brown truck to arrive. The forklift his here waiting for that heavy package. I was going out to sight in and test today but no ammo  and besides it's too dam hot to do anything but sit in the pool or stay in the AC. Better yet I may just go to the Coast for a few days and wait out this heat wave. :) Hope I don't miss the brown truck.

I never said it was the Brown truck did I? It's that government truck with the flying eagle head on it. Those white trucks that deliver your mail. Being their from the government I know they would never lose your package. B)
