But the way I grew up pumping the gun the scope is in the way. I could never get used to holding the gun by the grip and pumping.

I agree with John a hundred %. I'd get a new rear sight put on. If I did ever go back to a scoped sheridan, I'd put the intermount farther up the barrel and go with a pistol scope. Like John says, a rifle scope and pumping on the sheridan is pretty tough. Here's my old blue streak from the 60's...Just so happens I also thru in my Daisy model #25 pump from early 60's as wellIt hard to beat open sights on the Sheridan.

...Oh yea John and them model #25's were serious shooters in the good old days. I don't know how long I just sat and stared at that gun after seeing it under the Christmas tree. Looked up and saw that big smile on my dad's face as he drank his cup of coffee...and the worried smile on my mom's faceHey Mike we're like brothers from another mother. My Daisy Model 25 from the very early 60's too.
...I love it when a plan seems to come together...have fun with that gun Anchor Man.I am going to try and find a new rear sight for my Sheridan, then if that don't suit these old eyes I'll try the handgun scope as Mike recommended.

That's good news AM...I have heard many good things about Tim. Glad he could get you up and running with new sights. You are about to start a great new adventure in air gunning...and you picked a very fun and good shooter to start it off withI called and spoke with Tim McMurray as MikeNC and Shooter John recommended and he is sending me a rear sight at a very reasonable price. Tim treated me as a valued customer and he was very friendly.

Thanx again SJ I think i'll order a box of the domed and a box of the predator just to see what they are like. They are certainly inexpensive enough. It is a brand. Here is a link.http://www.pyramydai...Domed_500ct/477

Here is my solution for 'scoping a Sheridan. These mounts are designed to mount the scope as low as possible for less rise between zero points. I use a pistol scope so pumping is not a problem. These mounts are rock solid... no possible movement! Also fits Benjamin HB17 & HB22.Anyone know the best scope mount for an older Sheridan silver streak?
