A WARNING since cottontail season opens July 1. Plus we have had a number of jack rabbit posts as of late.Handling rabbits of any species can expose you to Tularemia a disease caused by bacteria. I don't want to alarm anyone but precautions should be taken to prevent infection. Rubber gloves should be worn while processing or handling any small game but especially rabbits. I have included a link for you to look over for your own safety. Tularemia was actually developed as a biological warfare agent.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TularemiaI have some knowledge of this disease as a friend contracted it many years ago. He became very ill and the treatment took an extended period of time. Be safe!

It's about that time of year again. Don't forget your gloves for skinning those rabbits, gents.
