I finally went there this season. Been there before but my first time this season. Wanted to see if there was an afternoon shoot happening there and guess what....Not much shooting going on there.I got one hen widgeon. Seen some snow geese & some other ducks but nothing in range. One of the positives today was, they do hand you out a nice color map of the area now. Pretty sweet.

I went out last Wednesday and I can firmly say that there is no shortage of common snipe around there. My buddy and saw quite a few ducks flying over, but also out of range. It was still a good time.

So far this season, all I have managed to get out of SJ is 1 widgeon & 1 redhead. Finally got a blind in the middle of the action last Saturday but the skybusting ruined it. The birds where working their way down then as soon as they got to within 125 yards %@#&%!* start shooting. Then the birds take on off.

Ron and I went on the 9th had a great day a good deal of limits were taken. we took seven. Would have took two limits had we shot better.. I was # 20 on the res list. Only about 16 of the people in front of me showed by check in time.. Hence we got a good blind. A few geese were also taken Action was great in the morning spoty in the afternoon then was great again just after 4 PM. Duck were working the decoys best in the evening..

I went yesterday and got in during the Lottery. I got two and my hunting buddy got 1. We missed a few also, those teal are fast. LOTS of skybusting. Ducks started to come towards our marsh area and the guys that were North of us kept shooting at Ducks 75 - 100 yards up. The ducks turned and went the other way. Pretty warm in the afternoon. Good movement during the morning, but dead during lunch time. In the evening they started flying back in, but WAY too high, even for the skybusters. This was my first duck hunt and I had a great time. I'm hooked for sure.
