^^^^^Yep, I agree with the good to have non-hunting looking vehicle. My Jeep is my daily driver and I work at a VERY Liberal place. I already get those looks every now and then and I'm sure I'm thought of as the Gun guy. I have been tempted multiple times to camo my Jeep, but I talk myself out of it each time.

Hadn't considered that...may need to rethink wrapping Braz's Jeep in Natural Gear camo pattern.

Just go to your local GI Joe shop or Veterans supply and get a large camo net to throw over your vehicle. They work great!

I don't really understand the camo netting thing. Is this for when you are parked, or are you driving around with camo netting on your rig?? If when parked, seems like a hassle to put netting on unless you are staying for a while.

There is a few places that I haven't hunted because there is nowhere to hide the truck. I think if you have the netting the coyotes won't think twice about the truck. If you have driven through camp pendlton and seen the vehicles covered with the netting you would realize how effective it would be.

31-10.50 r15 BFG's is what I am running (and have been running them for about 4 years). Everything works fine. I have a 3.5" lift and my tires rub every now and then when I get a little crazy. ;)I have posted a pic of mine on here before. I'll look for it.EDIT:Here it is. :signs1180lq:Posted Image

Nice looking rig. What brand lift do you have? I ordered a 3-1/2" rubicon and 1-1/2" shims for the front to level it out.

It's a 3.5" Superlift. It was installed before I bought the Jeep. It came looking just like it is. :g-hog-poppin-up-ani: If I would have done it, it would have had steel wheels painted flat black. But I really like the look, so i have never changed it . ;)As for the camo netting, I have spent lots of time in deserts with military stuff covered with the netting. I agree with it being very effective. I guess it just depends how you are hunting. I usually park (with my vehicle hidden by a hill or a burm or trees/bushes or something), do my 15 minute stand, then drive to the next. It just seems like camo netting would be a hassle at each stand.

When my hunting partner and I go out into the desert, his truck (being all white) sticks out like a sore thumb so he bought an extra large old military camo net (in desert camo) and fixed it in a way that when we stop, he just pulls it up and over his truck from the bed (rolled up and bungeed near the back window) then pulls the other end over the back. When he does this, it's usually in an area that we will leave our vehicles and hunt half mile grid patterns for the day. It usually takes less than a minute to deploy and cover his vehicle. Heck, it takes me longer to get my magazines loaded!

I got back from Utah today and started to install the lift. They sent the wrong u bolts so I need to go exchange them in the morning and then I'll finish the rear and start the front( if the wife will let me get away with beinng gone for a week and wrench on the jeep when I get back). I weighed the rack and it will be about 65 pounds when finished, I can probably cut that down by 10-15 pounds by making the top half thinner wall and cutting it down to 4'x4'-6" instead of 4'x5'-6". Bruce,That camo looks good but soreloosers method of camo can produce the same look for less cost. that jeep looks good like it is so why change it at all?

It's funny you say that. This summer I was welding some stuff on predator masters trailer, I sent hm for materials while I was cutting on the chop saw and Adam(my son) says to me that the hill is on fire. I look up and the bank at the end of my driveway is starting to burn. I grabbed the hose and put it out and gave him a big hug and an ice cream. Now when I'm working out there and it's dry and hot, I hose down the weeds and keep him close by.

Marcelo, I lifted the rear myself on saturday and decsided to have the local spring shop do the front. for the 200 bucks it wasn't worth doing the ront myself. I should have it back today or tomarrow and just need to check my schedule(wifes scedule) before I make plans.

Ron, heres the AR I gotta break in on some yotes. I was tired of carrying the "Varminter AR". Who ever said that those heavy full float tubes with bull barrels are 'Varmint ARs' has never had to haul one of those heavy SOBs around. Make room in your jeep for it!Here she is with glass.Posted ImagePosted ImageThis sucker is nice and lite!

That's nice Marcelo. Is that handguard comfortable? I always thought those would not be too comfy. Here's the jeep after the lift and in the process of installing the winch and bumper. I wanted to fab a bumper myself but found this one for 300 bucks shipped so I passed on making one.Attached File  1.jpg   21.74K   8 downloadsAttached File  2.jpg   17.93K   6 downloads Now that it's lifted I'm getting some vibration in the rear end so I think I need to invest in a slip yoke eliminator or drop the transfer case a bit. Has anyone had this problem or done this work before?

XJ is coming together. What bumper/winch are you using?? Did you ever look into the Rear bumpers with tire/hilift mounts??

Without being there to check it myself I'll give you my best shot at a diagnoses from 40+ years of 4X4 ownership and modification. I'll bet your universal joints are torqued to tight. If this suddenly became apparent and you never noticed it before that's the first thing to check. Using a standard box end wrench tighten only using your little finger as full hand pressure will deform the cap and give you some real vibration. If that isn't it you may need to adjust the angle of your rear end upward to more match your driveline angle. But I'll bet it's the universals are tightened too tight. They may need replacement too but it seems everyone is superman when they tighten them up.PS - What bumper is that? It looks similar to an Iron Bull.

SJ,The front bumper is from logan products, I foud it on ebay and was real reasonable. Thanks for the info I'll try it. Wanna, I have looked for a rear bumper/tire carrier and haven't found one that is worth buying since I can fab one for about 150-200 bucks. I am painting the jeep now and finishing the rack next then I'll think about a rear bumper. Took it out today and got it a little dirty and called in a few.Attached File  1.jpg   18.94K   6 downloadsI painted part of the fender last night to see how I like the color.

Is that Krylon Tan?? Also, are you painting the fenders black?? If it was me, I'd paint the fenders the same color as the rest of the Jeep. I really like tan for a desert hunting rig.Yeah, if you go the roof rack route, you really don't need the added expense of a rear mounted tire.

That thing is unstoppable. I couldnt believe the stuff we went thru WITHOUT using 4WD. Well, except the part where you had to climb a wall the the e-brake on. Oops! LOL Shiet, actually you still almost made it! Once the e-brake was off, it was in unstoppable mode again. Slap some magpul FDE on her and then we can call sittin right in front of the bumper. No prob! :signlol2iu: By the way, thats one sexxxy dude in that picture!

Yes, it's krylon and I was planning on painting the fender flares and bumpers O.D. green. I may still go with camoflage but haven't yet decided. You wouldn't believe the diference the tan makes until you see it parked behind a bush. The tan is invisable compared to the white.
