I have a dumb question can I use lead to shoot doves in the condor range. I know big game and squirrels are non lead what about up land game? I just got back from A zone killed a rattler my friend shot a coyote pup and I saw a butt load of dove.next time out I am going dove hunting and my buddy can go stare at doe's. I did feel bad for that coyote that was the smallest one I ever saw shot.

It's not a dumb question. You may still use lead shot for dove, quail and turkey hunting in California, even in the condor lead-free zone (map available at Web site listed below). One exception - some of the federal refuges and military lands with public hunting programs, such as Camp Roberts and Fort Hunter Liggett, are requiring non-lead ammunition for all hunting (including birds) effective immediately. For more on the non-lead requirements and the specific areas and hunting opportunities affected, go to http://www.dfg.ca.go...hunting/condor/.

Thanks John I knew you would come along with the answer I needed. It sure gets confusing with these regulations and I need other peoples opinions sometimes just to make sure I read it right.Don't they contradicted them selves they say no lead projectiles and then they say lead shot is ok for up land birds aren't the lead shot little projectiles.

Yes, they are definitely hard to understand and we just won't tell them about the little projectiles.

Ok I have another they say no more then 3 shells in your gun for up land game but how many shotguns can I use. I know of a few duck and geese hunter that take 2 shotguns with them they both are loaded at the same time and shot one after the other now is this legal.I myself just use one at a time.

You can have all of the guns you want as long as they have no more than 3 shells in each one.
