Hey man, chill a bit. Like was said, this is your first post and you expect everyone to jump to answer your question? Most of the folks here are working folks you know. Why don't you spend some of your time, while waiting, reviewing the posts that have gone on here. Lots of discussions about rabbits and where folks have shot them. Use the search engine and spend some time working for the answers. This isn't Obama Care where everything is given to you. :smiley_turkey_pop_up_log: By the way, welcome to the group. Lots more folks will be around, and I'm sure before the week is out you will be getting some suggestions.

Hey Scotty, Welcome to the group! If you want a good place and don't mind traveling check out the hills of tracy. I was gonna move there about 14 years ago. My parents were have a house built there, then bad stuff happened never made it. But I remember when visiting the housing tract where it was being built you'ld see jack after jack running around. A really plentiful area. - Jeremy P.S. today is my sunday so I'm at home watch my 1yr 4 month old daughter take a nap and watching Les Johnson's Predator Quest t.v. show!

Hey Scotty, the best advice I can give is beside knowing someone or meeting someone in Tracy. Is to find a spot that looks like it will produce or if you know it will produce. Is to go up to the land owner! Introduce your-self, let him know what you intend! I.E. " Hello Sir, My Name is Scotty. I see you have quite a few jack rabbits on your property, I would like to have permission to hunt them." Go on to tell him you hunting back ground, your SAFETY ethics, how you will respect the property, his animals, etc. If he says no. Tell him you understand and respect his word. Bid him fare well. Maybe leave him a name and number for in case he changes his mind. Just be polite and respectful when doing it. If you notice he has live stock, give him facts. Ground squirrels, rabbits and other animals live in burrows, live stock step in burrows break there legs, now landowner has an injured animals, plus medical vet bills. Show him the facts be knowledgeable. If you have do a little research on the animals you intend to hunt see what damage they do, what kind of cost they have on livestock and property, beside guns and ammo, have facts and knowledge as a weapon as well. Show the landowner you did your homework and know what your talking about. And use everything to your ability and never be afraid to try something different or new. Listen to what other hunters mention or do and apply it you never know what can benefit you. Pay attention to the detail and you will be a better hunter and better off. Hope this helps, gives you some confidence and a place to start! Happy Hunting and Shoot Straight!-Jeremy

Shooting a rabbit is over rated anyway. What you need to do is go squirrel shooting now that's fun. As for jacks I haven't seen them for years here in the central valley I don't think their population is that big anymore.Every 10 years they have a big die off .
