Just spent Father's day weekend camping at Sly Creek Reservoir (39.607877, -121.151991 (+39 36' 28.36", -121 9' 7.17")). Fantastic weekend camping. But the fishing wasn't that hot. We were there 3 weeks ago and two of us pulled out almost 20 golden trout. This weekend 4 of us only caught 2. We didn't try as hard, but still would have expected better numbers. Seems like the water warmed up a lot in the last few weeks. There doesn't seem to be any action in the lake at all. Fishing is all up in the creek. And it's only for the adventurous type who like to climb up the river over rocks and trees. This isn't for the armchair fisherman. It's beautiful country, and always worth the trip.

That's up off of La Porte Rd in Butte County. They have rainbow, German brown, and kokanee salmon but no Golden trout it's too low in elevation. Nice place to camp.

Were you trolling? using downriggers? We troll the lakes around us with good success even when its hot, you just have to get down to the deeper levels where the water is cooler..
