Excellent shot @ 225 yards, nice! Was that shot from a rested position, or off hand?200 pound wild boar with a 264 Win Mag at about 225 yards with a head shot. It dropped him good. Never hunted out of state so the chances of getting something truly huge are pretty limited.Jason

I definitely had a rest on that one. I came around the corner and he was down hill in a valley. It was sprinkling lightly and the wind was in my favor so he didn't smell me and take off. He had no clue I was there so I had plenty of time to get set and relax my breathing to take the shot. It was during quail season two years ago and I generally like to bring my rifle just in case I see some pigs. The 264 Win Mag is such a flat shooting gun that shots on large game at that distance are not impossible. Usually when I shoot at hogs they are running and I don't get this kind of time to get set and really make the shot count. I only have one picture of the beast which I have pasted below. Looking at the picture the shot looks like it hit right behind the head in the neck. Still a pretty good shot. When he was hit it was like his body just shut down. His back legs dropped then the front and he just rolled onto his side. No twitching, not a sound. Most amazing thing I ahve ever seen. Anyway, here's the picture. The only picture I have is this head shot my uncle took where you can see the tusks.Excellent shot @ 225 yards, nice! Was that shot from a rested position, or off hand?
Enjoy!Jason

Thanks, I didn't get it mounted because I was broke but I put the head somewhere to dry out. The bottom jaw dried out nicely and now sits in my flower bed but some critter hauled off my skull.Nice tusks!
