After seeing posts on that .30/378 and .50 Beuwolf I am curious to see what the largest big game round/caliber everyone has. For me it's my 300 Win Mag followed by 30-06 and 30-40 Krag.

I still have a .375 H&H Magnum and my old .45-70. I don't think .50 cal is considered a hunting round. Well, I guess it depends what you're hunting.

As I look around, all I can find for big game is a .308 Win. or a 6 X 284 that weighs 20 lbs.

I can name most of them. But I gotta get ready for work . Starting from the left 22,22 Mag, and then a rare one 22 JET . S&W Chambered a hand gun for it years ago. I heard there were problems. Why? Cause its a bottle neck case in a revolver. The rest are the usual suspects. The last two is military stuff, isn't one of those a 30MM rnd?

2nd to last looks like a 20 mm. I used to love to go watch the CIWS shoot on the ships I was stationed on during live fire exercises. 4500 rounds per minute is amazing. Too bad they only hold 1500.

The older models fired 3000 rounds per minute and only held around 800 in the drum. The newer models can fire 4500 rounds per minute and hold 1500. The sound of them firing 4500 rounds per minute is very distinct.Yes, they do shoot a depleted uranium round, or used to. The Navy has gone away from the DR for environmental reasons.A-10's rock !!!

Ok cool we know how many rnds per minute. But what is the Muzzel Velocity and how heavy is the bullet.How thick of armor plate can it pierce? Enquireing minds want to know? We know that a 50Cal (BMG) shoots about a 750gr bullet at about 3,000FPS for a muzzel energy cloce to 14,000 LBs.And we know how loud those bad boys are. Who in our club has seen actual combat? How loud is battle? I can't imagin how you could here talking over comunications in the heat of combat??????????????

For the kind of game I want to bag, its my 375H&H Weatherby. I am saving this caliber for the Brown Bear or Grizzly. I never took a rifle bigger than a 300 Weatherby whenever I go to Africa. Fact is I use 22-250 for the smaller plains game. My taxidermist harvested a Giraffe with a 22-250.

.338--.444marlin-30.06, went to Tejon ranch pig hunting 3 wks ago and decided to use up my older .338 elk round's, about a 60 yd moving quickly shot put the pig on the ground with hardly a quiver, entered behind the right shoulder and took out the left shoulder but didn't ruin that much meat.
