50 downloadsSame Rifle as the link SJ provides in his post but it has an Aimpoint M4 Optic with quick release on it. I have to be honest I bought this Ruger more for the fold down front and rear sites then for the Piston ejection system. Call me crazy but all the other choices did not have the versatility that would allow for tactical optic, scope, or open sites with such ease and so little time and no tools. The sites are up in the link SJ posted and simple folded down on my gun. I could use some help from you experts on the best sholder strap for this gun. I plan to try it out on coyotes to see if I like being able to shoot with both eyes open, seems like it will help when they are in close and of course just for the cool photo opportunity and will plink with it as well. Its a ten round Mag made to look like a higher capacity (I know kinda gay but this is CA........) The bullet button can be seen just above the front of the trigger behind the Magazine. Sorry about the cell phone photo but my camera is packed up for a trip.

Nice gun, glad to see they are coming into CA. I wouldn't mind a Ruger upper for one of my reg'd AW lowers.Do please tell me, does this have an M4 step barrel? More importantly, does the barrel get thinner under handguards a la USGI profile, or is it fairly straight taper a la the Colt 6921HB or the CMMG MedCon barrels?I wish it had a 1/7" twist bbl for the heavies (75gr TAP, 77gr SMK/OTM) however.I am not a huge fan of piston-driven ARs given overall general goodness of a quality AR platform, but it'd be fun to have one just the same.I've been leery of other brands because of either "garage R&D" (various conversions using screw down impactor replacing the gas key on bolt carrier) or because the companies are small, not necessarily likely to stay in biz over the long run, etc. - with unique parts that vary from implementation to implementation. At least we know Ruger (1) generally makes competent stuff [even thoguh I abhor the Mini14];' (2) replacement parts generally are around for a long time and are not that costly; (3) big enough company that there may even be Ruger-specific aftermarket parts - or other companies will build piston ARs compatible w/Ruger parts.Bill WieseSan JoseHey Dan one sweet looking rifle. Congrats and enjoy. Oh don't beat yourself about 10 round mags just clip two tens together, not illegal to do that.

Thanks Dan, I may go try and find an SR556 upper for my reg'd AW - just to play with.BillI like the piston driven system for ease of clean up, I dont fire anywhwere near enough rounds to justify it any other way. I have never owned one of these before and I have found it to be a very user friendly weapon and fun to shoot. It is more accurate then I expected, probably because my only comparison is my Mini 14 and M1 Carbine. Those two guns are very inconsistant and I was ready for a similar experiance, quite the contrary.

Hmmm...... Just this morning my wife and I had that "how many guns do you have now?" discussion, which naturally flows into the "why would you need anymore?" discussion. Oh well, If I start right after Christmas, I can start working on her for next year....This year she "let" me buy two air rifles (PCP and springer) and a 10-22 (that I subsequently pimped out to the max!)Maybe next year - that is a sweet looking rifle. Maybe I could tell her I'll sell my Keltec SU-16.Didn't mean to hi-jack the thread - Its not my fault - I'm just sitting hear drinking too much coffee!!
...I am slowly breaking my wife down in hopes that I get something like this one day

Around my house I just lay down the law. I say (in a bold voice), "If I want to purchase another firearm, I will and i don't need no woman's approval!" Of course, when i say this my wife is usually at the grocery store. <g> You'd be surprised how many firearms you can win with a raffle ticket...my missus certainly is!
