I finished my E-Caller, ordered my new gun and thought I had a plce to hunt, that has fallen through. Being as I have never Coyote called or hunted them is themain reason I joined the club. I am wondering if there is any one out there willing to take me out once or twice and show me how its done. Or even just give me a few ideas of public land that is huntable. I am located in Rocklin, so looking for some place i can go hunt in the am or pm and not have to take a whole day. I have two little ones at home so time is at a premium. Thanks Robert

Gerlach! Gerlach! Gerlach! the weather is clear, lets GO already
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

Steve I'm ready for a Gerlach trip when ever you guys are. I haven't killed a coyote in a month and my finger is getting itchy. Going to Alturas this weekend.

Seriously, I think most hunters here are more interested in ground squirrels and jack rabbits this time of year and on into mid/late summer. Some of it has to do with the denning season, but mostly there's just a lot of other easier things to shoot right now. My best yote/squirrel area is not accessable right now due to the swollen creeks. They're waist high and moving quickly, otherwise I'd offer. And most public areas around here suck, too many hikers, people, and not many coyotes.

Public land sucks in California. You need to get some land that has a lot of yotes like a ranch or something. Its tuff but you need to beat the streets and back roads and knock on doors. Or you are going to get maybe one yote for every 10 or 15 stands. But give it a try and see what happens. It worked for me.

Do you guys know how stinking hot it gets over in Gerlach in July. It's a lot of white sun reflecting alkali and even the hot springs get to hot to go into.....Walt
I like beautiful women, fine wine and poking dead things with a stick!"If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous. If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid for."Socialism is not a Republic.
