I was able to get a few at my wife's cousins place with an airgun. But they were like 80 yard shots and the rabbits held right into the berry vines along the river. Only went one time but using the airgun was fun.

for the year I ended up with two limits worth taken with a handgun and two limits with a rifle. My hunting partner shot three limits with a rifle and one limit with a scattergun. That was alot of rabbits to BBQ.
Sharps, the rifle that made the west safe for Winchester!

Real tractors have two cylinders and hand clutches.

My rifle is mine, it isn't for sale, and I only give guns to people that I really like.

80 yard shots with an airgun? Must be one of those very fancy ones. My old daisy/ crossman airguns were definitely not in that league.

It's a Air Arms 410ERB with thumbhole stock in walnut. It's a very nice shooting as well as very quiet airgun.

Do you like the .177 or .22 I have an older Sheridan in .22 that has been a great gun but has it's limitations. I have been thinking of upgrading to something with a scope, and great looks would be icing on the cake.

SJ was that a special order on the wood? I usually don't like the tiger striping but that is just plain beautiful on the thumbhole stock.

I still shoot a very old Sheridan about 1960 vintage. She's a 5mm but still shoots very well.Posted ImageI just ordered the Air Arms 410ERB in a walnut left hand thumbhole. But they did say they had a really nice looking one they would send me and I wasn't disappointed.Posted Image

Meant .20 cal on the Sheridan :drinks: was looking at Air Arms site at the time. Did you choose the .17 or .22 cal and why? Are the strengths and shortcomings in the ballistics the same as if it were a powder gun?

I choose the .22 as it provides the most foot pound energy. I want as much energy as is reasonable at distance. There are guns with higher energy levels but then the noise level goes up astronomically. This gun is very quiet and with the new side cocking lever I often get off several shots without other animals seeing or hearing me. My FX Monsoon is good that way too because it's a semi auto.

is the monsoon fed by pump, co2, or larger bottle or tank? how does the accuracy compare?

You can use a pump or tank to refill the gun. The Monsoon is on par with the Air Arms. FX make some very nice airguns.

My Great Uncle in Arizona had a Sheridan like that. It was a single shot and the first pellet gun I used. Unfortunately, my Dad in his infinite wisdom decided to swing the butt of the rifle at a wasp near his head. Well he smashed the rifle and totally destroyed the stock, breaking it into pieces.

There is a guy in the web that rebuilt the Sheridan and can add more power to them .

Yea Mac1 does what he calls a steroid upgrade on them. But if I had a classic one like mine I'd hate to do it. Maybe one of the newer production ones it wouldn't hurt the value.
