Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, and have to say this is a pretty sweet site! I'm also new to rabbit hunting and was wondering if any of you know a nice place to find jackrabbits in Imperial Valley, preferably on the south end, maybe a nice place in the riverbottom? I've been all over the place to the southwest of El Centro and can't seem to find any jacks, though I've seen a couple of cottontails (got one today), but no jackrabbits. Thanks a lot, any help is appreciated!

Hunt NORTH of I-8 between Plaster City and Seely..just take Dunaway off ramp...turn right at stop sign...go about two miles...??...turn left on dirt road by canal just after Westmooreland Rd....drive in about a mile..from there head north on foot and you can beat the bushes in a huge field...I got two there a couple weeks ago...

We use to hunt the area around Ocotillo. Some of the washes were great for big jacks.

Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate it and will have to check it out. I was over in those washes right off of Evan Hughes just east of Huff yesterday evening and didn't see anything, though there were a lot of tracks. Do you know of any places south of I-8? Also, do any of you tan the hides?

We use to camp in Davies Valley and there was some jacks in there. The BLM closed that area some years back but you can still hike in. I don't know about now but there was alot of Border Patrol and illegal traffic in the area. Davies Valley is a easy way into the U.S.

What I found out there north Of I-8 is you have to move very slow...the Jacks run fast,so it requires a fast shot...if you move too fast, you can walk right past them....they hunker down in the bushes...always in the shade...Posted ImagePosted Image

Try anywhere near drop 4 of the All american. It's pretty Bushy out there but there should be a lot of Jack's. WARNING- The BP is all around there so be mindful of you backdrop.Meanie

Great...!!! Glad it worked out....the canal would have been to your right turning in off the highway...hopefully this rain we are getting will make 2009 a better year for Quail/Jacks...Rich
