I have several hunting revolvers, two S&W conceal and carry polymer semi-autos in the cars (Missouri), and am now contemplating prchasing a new all-metal semi-auto. I have three buddies who have purchased a Kimber Custom II, a Browning Hi-Power Mk III, and a Springfield 1911 in the last three months (all 9mm). So far I am most impressed with the Springfield but it is also the most expensive of the three. What other metal semi-autos should I be considering and why?

For carry consider the Bersa Thunder 45UC, for hunting I love my Sig P220. Glocks won't do you wrong for all around reasons. What is your intended purpose?The Springfield XD is a great pistol and at a good price point. Lastly, the Taurus ones are very reliable and priced to move as well.Darren

I would get the Sig p220 ST It is an awesome gun with excellent out of the box accuracy and excellent quality. Not to mention ease of maintenance because of easy take down.

Thanks - I just started looking at the Sigs but there are so many models. Our local police use the 229 and I see the 226 is popular. My Smiths are DAO and I see Sig has the DAK option. Is that worthwhile? Why one over the other?

The DAK trigger would be pefect if you are already used to DAO otherwise they are traditional DA/SA semi-autos. The DAK will be smooth and consistent...as far as one over the other it is going to be personal preference and size that you need to consider. I love my sigs and wouldn't hesitate to get another.

That was my very first choice. My buddy's new Kimber had a jamming problem out of the box but it seemed to be only because it is brand new and tight... Other than that it is a fabulous gun. I am finding out that Obama has caused tremedous sales of handguns and two dealers have said prices are going up.

Ditto. I have one and also a Pro. SWEET GUNS, though i have heard some complaints from new purchases in the last month.If I was buying something like that, I would get a Kimber Ultra Carry II. Just an Awesome handgun.
