I chose to watch the sunrise on the second day of waterfowl season here in NY it opened on turkeyday this year . At around 7:15 a gaggle came my way but was a little out of range for me so i waited and about 10 minutes later more of the same .Both had about 10 geese so i knew there where more i live on a roost for geese and it's a one shot deal so when they clear out it all ducks for the rest of the day at around 7:30 a lone crow flew by so i dusted him setting off the last gaggle this one had about 55 and they where heading right for me in V formation i chose the first on on the left off pointPosted Imageit took both remaining shot but he's heading for the pot . As i watched him fall earthbound a greenhead jumped up as i was sqeezing in a fresh round i shouldered the 835 wingshooter and let the 3 1/2 inch remmington nitro steel fly Posted Imagehe dropped knot a bad first morning .The afternoon was better broke out the Fox pro zr2 and set up for crows with my buddy jimmy we have a sweet spot where they fly by to there roost of about 5000 on a local farm in 2 hours we did well he got 5 i got 4 and his pop scored 4 himself great openning day for sure . Here i am with the afternoons quarry and my 835 mossberg Posted ImageWINGSHOOTER

Great going. A few for the pot and few for .... well, if it were Shooter John, he would be breasting those crows out. :signs1180lq: Definitely better than hitting the stampedes at the stores.

I didn't know crow season started :)

It hasn't in California, it starts tomorrow. But Chris is in New York. Remember we have people from all over. Crow season in California start the first Saturday in December and runs for 124 consecutive days.

"At around 7:15 a gaggle came my way....."Wow......You really DO live in New York. Do you hunt with Emily Dickinson? lolJust kidding! I love upstate New York. It's a sportsman's paradise and is very much like the west. When I was working back east in Vermont and was straight out of Alaska we went fishing at Sodus Bay, NY. Impressive. I have a pic of myself holding a 10 1/2 lb brown trout that I got all excited about. When we got back to the lodge I found out it was only second best for the day. Seems they catch them like that all the time.

Yes moe i live in NY but knot where you where going i live on LI and we only have 5 to 7 pound brown trouts and good size rainbows down here in the rivers and the small lakes and ponds can produce nice lunker bass 10lb's common . Fished all the time in my teens and twentys to many rules now very hard to get to spots when the rich buy every thing and post it . Theres great stripper fishing at the end of my block but salt was never my taste maybe next yr though when the strippers are running is when we get good surf here so i have prioritys good waves are few and far bettween .
