I thought we could pool or collective brain power on this topic, much like we did on finding deals on lowers. I want to buy some zombie ammo. (not hunting lead free stuff- looking more for military type stuff) I figure it would not be bad to stock up before the election. I think things might get stupid if "that guy" wins. I'd rather have my order placed before. I am not worried about black helicopters and van parked in front of my house- just think prices will go up and maybe next year availability might be obama'd! So, what are you guys using and what kind of deals are you finding? I am looking at 223 but I guess 5.56 would be good too. I am thinking of 1000 rounds? More? Share your thoughts, prices, info, web links, etc here!

I have green ammo for yote killin, at $33.00 per 20 rounds, but I like to shoot Wolf ammo just to play at the range. It is not a brass round and is very dry. I spray an oil on it just prior to loading. This has solved any problems with NOT extracting. At $5.97 per 20 rounds, I like. If I were to start shooting compititions, I would shoot something beside Wolf for sure. At my age, comp shooting is long past.

Hard to say what is and isn't junk until you shoot it in your gun. It will all shoot but how accurate it is only your gun knows. I'm sure it's fine for people size targets. I myself have just over 7000 rounds loaded with V-MAX and even a couple thousand Dog Town bullets.

I don't need ammo then, I just need directions to your house John! If the zombies come we'll be fine! I was looking at the Cabela's stuff, looks like they are doing some free shipping. (not sure how or if that will apply to ammo though) Their 55 gr FMJ is $380 to $400 depending on the shipping deal. BUT, they are on back order!

That's the same ammo I was looking at on AmmoMan.com but he wants $450 per 1,000 delivered (or $420 in the brown box). Can I ask where you found it for $385?

Well, if I didn't already have 3 - 4000 rounds of 223 ammo myself, I might have been interested. Not quite as much as John has but hey, I should be able to squeeze by if I'm real thrifty. lol My garage would go up like Waco(sp?), Texas if it ever caught fire. ugh! scarey thought. lolBTW, I've read where ammo and firearm sales are up nearly 10% accross the country. Go figure, eh? LOL Happens every time when the public feels threatened in one way or another. And rightfully so!Frank

I ordered the Federal XM193 stuff today. Found out that less than an hour later they stopped the sale. I got in just under the wire. I already got an email from UPS with tracking info. I'll have my ammo in 2 days. $385 to my door.I was worried this would happen, I bet prices will go up after the election. Many places were back ordered already.

Anyone try the NATO surplus stuff by Prvi Partizan? From what I've read, crimped bullets & sealed primers make them waterproof and they also anneal the case necks. Cheaper than the Federal XM193 stuff & easier to find at this point. Only drawback I've seen is that Prvi Partizan makes some ammo for Wolf and Wolf is known for being less than desirable.

That federal stuff is hard to find. There is a gun show here on Nov. 22, if I don't find deals there I'll be searching the web more. (might be too late then to find anything)

A friend of mine uses the Prvi .308 stuff and he say's it shoots GREAT.

I ordered some of the Prvi 150 grn SP in .308 from Midway just to try it. It shoots great out of my Savage 16. I'll be ordering a bunch more the next time I order. Out to be great stuff to have around in case... Only thing I've noticed, and I haven't fooled around much with it yet, is that the primers seem to be smaller than all of my other .308 brass. Case head is very flat. Doesn't look like it will reload to me, I'll have someone who actually knows how to reload look at it first.

Anyone know about this stuff?PMC .223 Bronze ammunition for sale. It is 55 grain FMJ. $7.50 per 20rd box $350 per 1000rd case Shipping is flat rate $12 per 1,000rd case. $362 shipped ain't bad. I heard this stuff is boat tail.

No but a while back I posted about some Federal 50grn JHP stuff that WalMart had in a 200rd bulk box. Inside are nice little 20 rd boxes. And the stuff shoots amazingly well, I was over an inch but well under two at 100yds. At $74/200 that comes out to $370 for a case of 1,000.I thought it was really good stuff for the price, unlike most cheap stuff it actually shoots and isn't FMJ.To add the icing on the cake, I noticed it qualifies for a Federal rebate of $5 or $10/box.
