:signs1198ol: Thank you everybody! I bagged him with my slug-barreled 12 gauge at about 30 yards. He came sneaking up the hill behind me and walked around my blind at about 10 yards (darn near gave me a heart attack!). He kept looking at the blind so I had to stay completely motionless which took every last ounce of effort I had. Eventually he decided something wasn't quite right and he'd better bypass the feeder and continue up the hill. Luckily I was quick enough to get a quartering away shot just as he was about to go out of sight. Bullet entered just behind his right shoulder and exited out his left shoulder, taking out both lungs. He ran about 30 yards before he laid down for the eternal dirt nap. Here it is 4.5 hours later and I can still feel the adrenaline!

Awsome buck Wes! Congats on you first real wall hanger bro. Did he have any black on his tail? The one pic that shows some of his tail looks like it is all brown.

You better get Clampdaddy to move up there so he can shoot something. :signgreatreport3kg:

Thanks man, you asked me to measure him and he was 20.5" outside to outside. His tail was very black, that pic just caught it at a bad angle. I have to be really sure it's a blacktail up here because there's Columbia Whitetail too. If you shoot one of those by mistake, Fish & Game will turn you inside out!And for the record there were quite a few crows flying around this morning. Not to mention the hundreds of ducks & geese hanging out just a couple miles down the road at Fern Ridge WA. Also, look what else I have running around behind my house (not as big, but still a solid 3x4)... :crazy:Posted ImagePosted Image

I'm limited to one buck but my wife has an archery tag, if she chooses to use it. I'm buying an Oregon Sports Pac each year for both her & myself even though we don't use all of the tags. The price is right and the money helps to support the wildlife management. Still, you'd be amazed at the amount of poaching that goes on up here...

is that the big guy in your pics?

This is the biggest buck I've seen on my game cams but I'm not sure which pics you're talking about? I have a few other big guys roaming around here too. That real tall 3x3 that I had posted several pictures of hasn't been around in a couple weeks so one of my neighbors might have bagged him. These are the last two trail cam pics I got of the one I bagged (except for one blurred pic of him that was taken a second or two before I shot him):Posted ImagePosted Image

I dont mean for this to sound mean but western deer seasons closes for a week for elk hunting from the 17-25 of October. So fill your tag out right buddy and check your fish and game book. Because western season close for one week out of the season.
