I cannot imagine one does more than a few miles in one of those... and maybe the electric engine quietness lets one be more stealthy... Anyhow... did someone ever consider this?http://barefootmotors.com/A couple of solar panels could also recharge them off the grid maybe.BUT AS USUAL it smells to me like the toy of the rich.... 15 grands and then some.Man I can build my own. Take a soapbox and strap 4 electric motors and a couple of car batteries...

When they can get one to yield 60+ miles to the charge, I will look, otherwise too much for not quite enough. It does sound appealing as far as the lower maintenance though. but 20 miles, I guess I would have to walk the last few stands for the day. :signgreatreport3kg: db

One might be "stealthy" with an electric ATV but you'd have to bring along a generator to charge it up when you go to your stand so you have power to go to your truck or home :signgreatreport3kg: :smiley_kewlpics: !!!

Watched a commercial on the tube about one and it looked as if it would be ok for those guys that shoot deer on a ranch in Texas where you spend all your time looking over a food plot and feeder. I don't think it would last long where I live out in the brush after coyotes...Walt

FiveFlat (Sheldon) has an electric that apparently works well for his use. He posted some stuff about it a few times. Maybe he will chime in on this discussion.

I haven't seen Sheldon in awhile. After he heeled up he had to get back to work I guess. :signgreatreport3kg:

I've been wondering for a while if one could make their own redneck version of one of these by simply buying an old electric golf cart, putting a DIY camo paint job on it, then throwing a generator in the back. Run the thing on batteries without the generator when trying to be stealthy, then just fire up the generator when the battery juice gets low. Why couldn't that work? Also, since it's an electric golf cart, I don't think it would require getting a green sticker for it, right?

Wow, did you see the specs... 850 lbs! a little on the heavy side. and I love how they say earth friendly. its earth friendly till you have to replace the batteries. I used to work for lexus, and i left as they were bringing in the new hybrid RX's, its cheaper to cut your losses and buy a new car than replace the batteries. they cost a ton, not to mention the issues of dumping batteries.

Think back to the vehicle closures on the Tahoe National Forest the year before last. Restrictions were for vehicles with internal combustion engines. An electric atv might have been nice to get back a ways but I imagine it would have just pissed off the TNF to no end. :signs1180lq:

We hunt with a lifted Ezgo electric golf cart with the 3.5 hp hopped up motor. It does a great job goes almost anywhere our Rhino does (we use the Rhino when we have to do work on the lease hunt out of the cart). Quiet, no fumes have a winch installed for when we need it (use it to get unstuck and it will also puts the deer right in where the golf bags use to go) We have lots of hills and thick brush that it goes over and through with no problem. We love it. My son in law has a 6 wheeled 4 wheel drive golf cart that he hunts out of goes through water up to the floor boards and carrys 4-5 hunters and all our gear and corn in and out quietly. Can't beat it we hunt over 600 acres on each lease. We get over 30 miles to a charge.Jack
