Did I get a good box of WWB 55gr FMJ? Or does it all shoot this well? For "cheapie" bulk ammo, this stuff shoots pretty good in my Savage 12FV. It smokes the 45gr HP stuff! These pics are all 5-shot groups from 100 yards, shown with dime and quarter.Posted Image

My 22-250 Savage likes the white box stuff also. But the coyotes don't.....Walt

I've got some WWB 55gr from Walmart. $9 and change for 40 rounds. I shoot it out of my 24" Varmint set up AR. I couldn't ask for more from the ammo or the rifle.

NO! Plus anything about a mile behind what you're shooting at is in danger as those things ricochet like crazy. I've had to shoot animals several times shooting FMJ's to stop them. I happened to have shot lots of FMJ's through my AR's. I'd be out plinking and a coyote would run out so I'd throw one into it. I have had them run away like they weren't even touched. If it weren't for the fact I could fire off a few more quick shots I would have never stopped them. Unless you shoot them through the head you can pretty much watch them run off to suffer and die. It would be better to shoot them with the 40gr. V-MAX than the FMJ's.

Sure they will if you're shooting at a Buick. No, they hardly even slow down. I've shot their shoulders out and lung shot them and they still run away. But I was having fun pumping the rounds out at them because the ammo was free ball ammo. Shooting that ammo is where I learned to shoot low at ground squirrels. You hit the ground in front of them and the bullets skips and throws them into the air. But even those little guys run back to the hole to die. Still fun though.

I just re-read the post and I should pay closer attention to what I do read. Must be oldtimers thing, I got to blame it on something LOL. About FMJ's I wouldn't recommend them for coyotes. I have used them and have killed more than a few coyotes with them but then I have killed coyotes with a 22 lr also and I don't recommend that either. what I should have replied was that my 22-250 happens to like the 45 hp WWB ammo. My fault and I don't want to tell people it is fine to shoot coyotes with FMJ's. It is more likely to just cripple them and have them run off to die or lick their wounds which is not what we need to be doing to any critter we shoot....Walt
