Zeroing in for Deer / Pig ?

I have a 41 Mag , 4" & a 44spcl , 4 " That I would like to use for Deer ( both ) & Pig ( 41 only ) .
Should I be zeroing at 50 yrds & check point of aim at 25 yrds ( + / -) ?
Zero at 100 yrds & check 50 yrds for point of aim ( + / - ) ?
I will be using open sights but I do have a dot sight that I am thinking about mounting depending on how I shoot @ 50 yrds .
The 41 Mag will be using factory Barnes 180's & have some bullets to handload if needed .
The 44 Spcl will be running the Barnes 200 grn , handloads .
No I do not have a rifle for the hunts . My .243 is 8-9#s min & my .308 is 10/11 + #s .
And I do have to be " lead free" where I will be shooting .
Thanks for any / all in put ,

Same goes for archery. California people who know no better watch these hunting shows and think archery hunters should not shoot over 40 yards but if you have archery hunted in california for any amount of time you damn well know you better be capable of shooting over 60 yards or more than likely you will not take an animal that season.
So i say sight in at 50 yrds and go from there.

great episode. Handguns at close range deadly on big game but practice is the key.

Is not the " kill spot " on a deer about 6 " ?
I went through most of the expensive LeadFree stuff practicing at both distances from a rest . My handloads shot a little lower than the factory loads .
I will be shooting of my sticks , shot of them a few times too , if & when I can go .

I have seen you shoot that 44mag at 100 yards.
Grant is truly very good with a hand gun, and a rifle.
