New Cartridge Design

Has anybody seen the article on the new 5mm Cartridge that Savage bought the rights to? I've got the article in route but apparently it's a short fat with a eliptical shoulder. Sounds pretty wild. Dale

From what I've heard, I haven't seen the article yet so take this with a grain of salt. That it's going to be called the 5mm35 lc or something like that. It will be a fatty and have a eliptical shoulder rather than conical. It is supposed to have been designed by shooter/scientist/computer. They have also developed a .30 caliber that is supposed to have 30% less felt recoil than a 300 Wby Mag and the performance of a 30-378 Wby Mag. I'm anxious to see the article, they say the 5mm Savage is on board but the .30 cal no one is interested.

I read through Savage's site and not a word. This from the company that has Steve's new .17HMR held hostage.

Actually what they've found that it is good because of the long throated cartridge and the case design?

I'm the same doubting Thomas as you SJ. I guess only time will tell because you know they haven't shot the case enough to know for sure what barrel life will be yet. I've got about 3000 rds thru the tube on my 17 rem and it's still hanging in there.

When that barrel of yours gets worn out you can just shoot .19 Calhoun's through it. Then when those go you can shoot .20's. :)
