Range Report

I started with a box of Wolf and cleaned after every round. Then I went through one box of Alexander Arms 90-grain BTs and cleaned after every round. Then, I sighted in and after a little screwing around, shot the 5-rounds into the center. Not bad for a brand new barrel with only 50-rounds through it.Getting the feel of the AR took a little time also. For me, it handled a bit differently than a bolt gun and took a little getting used to. I really liked it though and took an opportunity to shoot it out to 500-yards. I made note of the hold for 200, 300, 400 & 500-yards. I'll make a cheat sheet for the inside of my rear flip-up scope cap.Range sessions with new rifles don't always end this well for me. I guess I got lucky for my first AR build :653: .The bullet weight on the target is wrong. It should have been 120-grain Noslers.Grendelsight-intarget.jpg

Ca Desert Dog: Really nice groups, looks to me like coyote MOA. Heck it has taken me several range trips to even come close to your results. Nice job!!! :653::653:

Not a bad way to start off with a new rifle. Should be great for sniping varmits at long range.

Thanks guys. That ammo is the Alexander Arms factory stuff 90-grain BTs. (wrong...it was 120-grain)I have some 120-grain AA ammo coming too. After I accumulate some brass I'll start looking for my own sweet load. I have never had this kind of good luck with a new rifle the first time out. To be honest, I was really apprehensive because it was my first AR build. I kept saying to myself, "Dang, what if it doesn't shoot worth a damn, then what?" Needless to say, I was greatly relieved. My buddies never would have let me live it down....LOL

Sorry about that. The ammo was purchased from Alexander Arms and was 120-grain Noslers. I must have been thinking about the Speer loads.

Hey Red, what did the Grendel build cost? I got to see one at the range the other night and now I'm getting the itch for one. There are some pretty interesting ballistics out there on that gun. Yours is much nicer than the one I saw at the range.
