Hand Cannon Update . . .

17 posts in this topic

Well . . . Nutz!I received word from my FFL this afternoon that the Taurus Thirty is NOT on ?The List? for California. :angry:I can?t ?purchase? this handgun here in CA. If I had family out of state, they could receive it, go through all the paperwork and what ever background check their state requires. Then they could ?give? it to me here in California . . . it is OK with a $19.00 transfer fee and everything is nice and California legal. :blink:Sheesh . . . what a scam. :D I was able to stop the shipment of the scopes and rings and have it changed to one scope and one set of rings. The check for the handguns is already in the mail and Tom & Becky are on vacation ?till 01-10-06. I did leave them a message and sent an email. RATZ! I was more excited about the Thirty than I was about the .44 Magnum! I already have ammo for the .30 as I already own an M1 Carbine. :D Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr . . . Kevin G."Welcome To California . . . Please Surender Your Firearms In At The Border" . . . :D

Hey guys . . . .Yeah . . . grrrrrrrrrr :P It is not under consideration to be added to 'the list' as Taurus has discontinued manufacturing this version owing to low demand. Hey!! I WANT ONE! Sheesh. As such, Taurus has not, nor wil they submit it for inclusion to 'the list'.What is 'out there' in distribution channels is all there is.I am rather bummed by the whole deal, but there is little I can do. I do know some folks in Nevada, I might talk with my FFL and get more information regarding transfering non-list firearms to California. From first blush, if I am given a non-list firearm from out of state . . . all that is needed is a $19.00 transfer fee and all is right with the state of California. It sounds simply . . . there much be a catch somewhere.Ehhhhhh . . . I dunno. B) Kevin G.

I believe the Catch is Handguns that aren't on the approved list or AW's Aren't allowed, Even as a gift from Immediate family when from out of state. However I would look it up in the Regs.

Hey guys,I spoke with Martin at Irvington Arms here in Fremont (my FFL) and if it is DIRECT family, they can 'gift' the handgun to me.Even though it is not on 'The List', with a $19.00 transfer fee . . . all is well with the State.Weird, I can't buy it and own in here in California, but I can be given it and own it here in California and it's cool  Unknown . . . firnt  Allrightfinethen.I just sent an email off to Tom & Becky at Sporting Arms Co. to get an update on the .44. They are ok with sending me back the extra $$ for the Thirty and it's shipping. Man . . . they are great folks to deal with and you simply can't beat the prices.I already have the Scope (Bushnell 3200: 2 x 6 x 32 in SS) Burris SS Rings and the Taurus SS mount just waiting . . . Once the piece arrives . . . I get to wait some more! OhhhHHhhh boy . . . what 'fun'.Anyone have any recomendations on what factory fodder to feed this beast? I will 'prolly buy 5 or 6 different types: Manufacturers and bullet wieghts. I will test 'em and see what it likes. I will most likey shoot off of sandbags to sight it in and I was thinking about doing so at 50 yards. Any other thoughts on the subject??Kevin G.

Kevin I like your 50 yard range for a handgun of that caliber. You reload correct? Why not load your own for your gun and find what it likes best. Handguns are I believe more forgiving in loads due to the range requirement we place on them. You can start off with factory but I think you'll be happier with handloads as you will be more prone to shoot the gun more frequently.

But they both need to go.
I'd vote for that!
If you ever get a chance to talk to Feinstein ask her why she can carry a .357 Mag in her purse and why most of us can't carry anything!
Actually she surrendered that permit after coming under fire for being a hypocrite.
