GPS accuracy

3 posts in this topic

Just wondering if anyone knows how my old GPS unit compares with current units for basic accuracy. I know that I am missing out on maps, talking machines, etc. But, today I am concerned with basic plus or minus how many yards for accuracy. I can still carry my own map.:signs1180lq:

A17Shooter,Your GPS is just fine. The only real difference, is the addition of W.A.A.S (wide angle augmented selectivity) that guarantees accuracy down to a few feet, rather than the average of 12 to 15 yards that is seen in the older units lacking W.A.A.S. My unit is an Eagle Expedition and is about as old as yours, I won't part with it. I don't need maps, and I don't want color, these only draw more power and GPS units draw quite a bit of power as it is.Good Shooting,Jim

What I like about the newer units is that you can get one with a digital compass which I think is a great plus. I still always carry a compass though.
