New Scope for New 17HMR

I like more power too, but that's just me. I like the extra power because I'll be shooting it from a rest most likely anyway. I hope it holds aim for you. The price is right though. But you know the old saying. "You get what you pay for." :)

My favorite power range is 4-16I'm not much for higher power scopes, so far I've never seen the need for more.My Savage has a 4-12 and that seems great. And the larger Scope's start at higher powers like 6x or 8xSo they don't go down low enough for those close shot's, you loose alot of FOV.Beside's those that use the scope's with larger magnafication seem to be making up fora lack of something ;) And I Ain't talking about Eye Sight :)

Yeah hitting the bull's-eye. I've seen your groups or were you intentionally missing the bull's-eye on purpose. :)

Just kidding! ;) I wish I had that Sweet 17 Scope back. After finding out it was the mount and not the scope itself. Just ordered another 4.5-14 Burris Short Mag with the Ballistic Plex reticle. Midway had a Christmas offer I couldn't pass up. My old Rem 788 in .22-250 looked sad sitting in the gun safe witout eyes on it. Or maybe I'll put it on the new AR upper that's coming.var2.jpg

That's a good looking upper! When do you get it?

Probably seven weeks, maybe sooner. The sprial fluted barrel has to be ordered. :)

That spiral fluting is way cool, though!
Yeah, I really like the sprial fluting. It won't make it shoot any better, but it will look cool. I almost convinced myself to order it in .204 they sell. Until a friend told me the steep shoulder on the .204 doesn't load well in an auto-loader. Besides if you saw how many .223 cases I have you'd be amazed.

How many 223 cases do you have?I almost went with the 25 wssm that D-Tech has but went with the 223 for the same reason you stayed away from the 204.

I stopped counting at 20,000. Actually we were weighing them because counting them got old. :)

I wasn't thinking of the steep shoulder on those .204 cases. That is until a gunsmith friend I asked set me straight. They work fine in a bolt actions but the auto-loaders have a hard time.

I used to get it free if I just picked it up. But I got the guys shooting it to pick it up for me. Then I didn't have the heart to not take it and I ended up with a ton. 90% of it is Winchester, nice stuff. I loaded over 4000 40gr. V-MAX loads of it for Cedarville last year. :)

Amazing... when my wife goes back to sea duty (she's a SeaBee) I am going to get her to bring back the spent cartridges when they go to the range to qualify.

That's how I got all of mine. DOJ and others that used our range don't have to reload. So I got the new once fired. :)

I bet you can't wait. Think the range will still be there or washed away by all of this rain? ;)
I am chomping at the bit, that is if there is a range left
