It's Heading For Jail Tomorrow For 10 Days

24 posts in this topic

Recently there has been quite a bit of talk on here about handguns, specifically in 22 lr. Well, it got me to thinking about how much I really wanted a 22 revolver. I spoted this baby on calguns so I'm meeting the owner tomorrow at the gun shop and will be putting her in jail for 10 days. Then she will go home with me and to the range for some serious shooting. It is S&W Model 17-6 and as you can see it has the full underlug which is a bit rare for the 17. I'm going ot love this little baby. She will snuggle right up with my 27-2 in .357 and Model 10 in 38.

Nice gun! Ten days? Bart Simpson always says "but I'm mad now". ;)

She is sure pretty and should be a dream to shoot. How long is the barrel on that 27-2? mine is the matching 8-3/8" twin to the 29-2, but I must admit to wishing it was the 4" that my brother has on the 28 at times.

My 27 carries a 6" barrel and hte 10 has the 4" arrel. As you can see this one is 6". although I can't measure it as I don't have possession of it yet.

Well, money transfered hands today as did the ownership of the hand gun. It is now sitting in the safe at the Gunshop. I can pick it up on the 22nd after 1pm. and you can bet that is exactly what I'm going to do!

Envious.

Maybe we work a deal - I'll bring my pre-dash 57 8&3/8s up and you bring that and we can swap some shooting! These 10 shot Smiths are huge on my wish list, but have to spend of necessities not wishes.

I didn't even notice the grips until just now. I love wood grips, but wood grips with finger grooves are to die for  . Just feels so natural. Been wanting a light colored pair for my stainless 686 for quite some time :smiley_green_with_envy:

I'm looking forward to seeing how she shoots myself. I"ll try and post up a target when I get a chance to shoot her.

I always wanted a 6" Diamondback after having had a couple Pythons over the years. But a Smith with the full underlobe like that would be sweet too. My opinion is that the Smith action work is mechanically simpler and less prone to problems than the Colt, but the Colt has an edge on style with their vent rib.

Well, Braz, you won't be getting much sleep tonight, with it being released from prison tomorrow. LOL (I think I read the 22nd?)

To say that is a GORGEOUS 22 is a gross UNDER statement. You hit it out of the ball park on that one, Braz. Way to go! :good:

I have always been a huge fan of S&W revolvers...

Now we know what kind of pistols you prefer. If we only knew what kind of rifles you favor Frank? :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: I think it would be safe to say that Frank is GREEN with envy :D

You're gonna have to take her out immediately Braz and let us know if she shoots as sweet as she looks. The suspense is killing us, or at least me

Nice gun . I was wondering who bought it . If that is the same 1 that I saw fur sale .

Have always had a deep fondness for the pre " BS" S&Ws.

Well, I got her pickedup up and stopped by the indoor range to be sure she would go bang. Yep, sweet trigger too in both double action and really nice in single action. Now to get some time to go back with some tools and a rest so I can put the adjustable sight to good use. She was kind of all over the place today. A big part of it is me too. But that isn't going to change even if I wait a few days.

I don't know about you Braz, but I have always had a heck of a time shooting indoors. They always seem to be dimly lit, and it is hard to see the sights in there. I can take the same gun outside and shoot twice as good with it.

Glad to hear it is smooth. I'm sure you will be punching bulls with it in no time.

Braz, as you know, a shooting rest, practice, and experimenting with different ammo will tighten up those holes a LOT.

Many years ago, and I am sure like yourself, I used to shoot a handgun fairly often, and got to where I could (almost) hit something. I could at least sometimes shell shock the rabbits even if I didn't hit them! Now I shoot once every Milinium (sp?), and it shows. Can be down right embarrassing! LOL

Bob, I gotta agree on those indoor ranges for some of the reasons you mention. Plus noisy & often times too busy, with too many (young) folks not knowing which end of the gun to hold & waving them around like a flag. I only (rarely) use them out of necessity or convenience. Otherwise I hate those places. Worse than the rifle range, except maybe on the weekends. Maybe!?
