.44 Special Lead Free For Charter Bulldog

6 posts in this topic

I bought a box of the barnes Tac-XP 42912 200 gr copper hollow points to load in my Charter Arms Bulldog .44 special. The bullet is much longer than the speer gold dot and hornady XTP 200 grain bullets, obviously.Anyway, I didn't find any data for this or similar barnes bullet for the powders I have (bullseye, W231, clays universal).I'm not looking for a hot load, just want to run about 800 fps in this 3" barrel, like the other bullets I've got.Anyone loading this bullet in .44 special?

The cannelure position and design of the X-cavity on the #42921bullet are tuned specifically for the .44 S&W Special, while the #42920 bullet is intended for use inthe .44 Remington Magnum cartridge.

My Barnes reloading manual number 4 shows some 44 Special loads for the 200 grain XPB bullet. They show loads for AA No.2, Zip, Solo 1250, True Blue, Silhouette and AA No.5. If you want the data for some of these powders let me know.
