Hevi-Shot

Has anyone tried hevi-shot dead coyote? Those ranges that are claimed seem unreal! If anyone has tried it, what kind of choke do you use?

I have killed a couple of coyotes out to 50 yards with this stuff. It's expensive no doubt. I was getting good results with a modified choke. I've heard many stories of critters getting wacked out to 60 yards. Some guys swear by a full choke shooting these loads.

I wouldn't believe everything you read about the ranges that they claim.70yds with any choke and any load is pushing the limits of believable.

Well, I bought some today. Gonna go try it out on Monday....
Let us know what you think of it. Since everyone's opinions vary it will be nice to have your thoughts on its effectiveness.

What size shot did you get? It would be interesting to see how it patterned at 50 yds. with different chokes and shot sizes, but the stuff is so dam expensive it's impractical to test very much.

It only comes in T size shot. I am going to try it with my improved cylinder.

Actually Dead coyote also comes in OOB in 2 3/4 and 3" but no 3 1/2" the T shot must be similar in size to 04b at 20 cal. They make it in Goose loads also in BB and 2's and 4's, plus some duck loads. All I know is it's too darn expensive for huntin ducks. We'll be looking forward to your report.

I've tried it with my Rem 870 Express. By mistake, I first bought two boxes in 3 1/2" ( from Cabelas ) and still have them as Cabela's won't accept ammo on returns.Anyway, I have two boxes of 3" and I also bought the Dead Coyote choke. I haven't shot on yotes with it yet, but I did cut a 3" log in half with it at about 35 yards. Need to find a dog next...

Yea, I've tried the son of HeviShot, which is HeviSteel, when I go duck hunting.. Seems to work pretty well, but then again, I'm sure bismuth or tungsten would work just as well as HeviSteel... I hear the HeviShot is supposed to really put the hurt on coyotes out to 70-80 yards, and a buddy of mine has taken large jacks at 90 yards...
