Sierra Reloading manual help needed

9 posts in this topic

Hi. I'm cheap. I don't want to purchase a Sierra reloading manual. But I want the info for loading:7.62x54Rwith the .311 Sierra 180gr SP and the .311 Sierra 174gr BTHP as well. Can somebody take a picture of that page for me? I'd REALLY appreciate it. Thanks!

Ah come on and bite the bullet. ;-) The manual isn't that expensive and there is so much great information. My brother and I have 5 different manuals between us that we swap back and forth with the newest being the Barnes reloading manual. Even though we have never reloaded Barnes we still love to read the manual. I saw an older edition of the manual going for $5 on ebay. I've seen the current one running for around $25-$28 on other online sellers for the new manual. This way if you get another rifle you will already have the manual. Good luck.Jason

You can always do a search on the net and find the loading data. Most of the powder companies and some of the bullet companies provide the info for free.

I did a search on the net and gave up after a while. Couldn't find the free info. Perhaps those bullets are listed under .303 British in the manual?

Here are just a couple for the 180 grain.http://www.imrpowder.com/data/rifle/303british.phphttp://www.hodgdon.com/data/rifle/7.62x54r.php#topI can't seem to find info on the 174g but didn't look too long and only tried these two powder companies.I also did a quick google for reloading forums and came up with this:http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/fo...910109#58910109So, as you can see, there is a lot of information out there if you just take a bit of time to look for it. Best of all, buy a few reloading manuals. As has been said, there is a wealth of information in the manuals besides just the amount of powder for a given bullet in a given caliber.

Yeah I've found all that info already, but it's not specific enough to my needs. For example, I need info on 7.62x54R not .303 British. And the x54R info is for either the wrong bullet or the wrong diameter and wrong bullet. And I'm not going to experiment with some random guy's pet reload that he posted on the net unless I can back it up with the manufacturer's info. And a lot of the powders suggested on web forums are not the same ones I can find on manufacturer's sites.Since I want to shoot a specific bullet, I'd feel safer using info from the manufacturers. I just can't find much out there for "free". Maybe I will just have to buckle down and buy another manual.

I don't have a fax. I emailed Sierra today and they sent me a large file with a ton of reloading info for x54R caliber. It's all for .308 bullets, not the .311 as requested. Odd, since S&B uses Sierra's .311 bullets to load 7.62x54R ammo at least they do for their 174gr BTHP Match ammo.
