Blue Cats

14 posts in this topic

My brother called me last night excited abut their latest fishing trip. They scored 3 blue cats weighing 64, 68 and 70 pounds last night. He is going to try and get me some pictures; I will post them here if and when I get them.

Those are our BIG catfish in the USA. Those are nice ones but nothing compared to European cats or Amazon catfish that can grow into the hundreds of pounds! ;)

Actually I read an article somewhere that said that ours did get that big until they started comercially harvesting them and there was even an old picture with it but I can't remember where the article was at.

He dropped off a couple of pictures for mom to scan and e-mail them to me. She is going to try and send them tonight; there will be pictures soon.

Now that is a catfish, and 3 in one night. Are they good to eat when they are that big? 4-5 lbs is the biggest I have caught here on Oregon. I know ther are some much bigger ones in the Columbia and Snake rivers but never fish for them.
