Pistol Scope/Sight For Browning Buck Mark Hunter

11 posts in this topic

Three of my buddies and I picked up new Browning Buck Mark Hunter 22 pistols for some friendly basement competition shooting. I am now looking for some kind of sight or scope to fit the shooting we will be doing. Two of the others picked up inexpensive BSA red dot sights. The shooting will be at around 10 - 20 yds max. What do you recommend?

Nothing wrong with the red dots for a pistol. I use one on one of my air pistols and it works really well.

I have a red dot on a HB17 Sheridan as well. Any advantage to crosshairs vs red dot for this application?

None in fact I think the red dot is easier to use on a pistol. I use rifle scopes on my Contenders for longer ranged shooting. Then it's nice to have a cross hair.DSC_0009.jpg

Any eye relief issues with the crosshairs? I know th ered dot is unlimited.

Pistol scopes are set for long arms length eye relief. I just don't care for their limited magnification and very narrow field of view. For close up to fifty or so yards they've alright.

I am currently studying the ATN red dot sights located here. Seems to be well reviewed and reputable in night vision stuff. Wally World actually carries these for $139. Anyone used one. It has 5 different reticles and a 2 MOA dot. Worked great in the store.http://www.atncorp.com/DayOptics/ReflexSig...traSightDigital

Seems like a C- scope on an A gun though. Still looking... There must be over a 100 of these things to chose from. Some combine red/green dots and even laser systemw ith the dots. I also need a laser/rail system for my S&W 40.

I had a ATN red dot sight on my ruger MArk III hunter and foudn it to work good, but be too large and heavy for what I wanted. Check out the burris fast fire or a doctor optic. So small and compact and a better looking dot image.
